Vintage Navajo Silver Turquoise Reversible Shadowbox Squash Blossom New Mexico

Offering a handmade, vintage (circa 60s-70s), extremely unique Native American necklace. This necklace is made with many sterling silver shadowbox pendants, in the shape of shells, with high grade turquoise inside. This squash blossom necklace measures approximately 18 long and weighs 81 grams. The craftsmanship of each individual silver shell is incredible.

There are 7 smaller shell/shadowboxes on each side for a total of 14. On the inside of the smaller shell/shadowboxes, they contain one rounded piece of beautiful turquoise.

The larger shell/shadowbox pendant that is in the middle measures approximately 1 1/2 long. It is embellished with 4 symmetrical and round turquoise pieces, symbolizing the four directions and unity.

The ability to reverse the necklace to have the shell pendants show all silver, is striking as well. It is two necklaces in one, a true mastery of art. The beads are silver and are also strung with 16 more pieces of turquoise. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have, and please inspect the pictures.

This piece is unmarked, as many older vintage pieces are. We believe that it was sand casted, for the shell design, then hammered out for the the shadowbox.
