STUNNING handmade Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace, circa 1940's-1950's. Turquiose appears to be very high quality, intense sky blue color with pyrite inclusions.
Color is very consistent and stones have high polish. Most stones have minimal inclusion, highlighting the beautiful color of these stones. Sky blue turquoise with minimal veining is generally considered to be the most valuable. Color and quality of stones indicate they are likely sourced from noteable Bisbee or Kingman mines. Traditional 10 stone squash blossom design with 7 stone Naja or "crescent" pendant at bottom, 17 stones total. Stones are freeform cabachon facet, set in sterling silver with rope bezel and three-sided etchings.Strung with 130 handmade sterling silver round beads, known as "Navajo Pearls", fastened with sheperd's hook clasp. Note the hand cutting marks on edges of the solder joints on the beads which is an indication of the age of this piece.
Silver has natural patina, polishing available upon request. Total length measures 24 (not including pendant). Naja pendant measures 3.25" by 3.75". Necklace cabochons measure 1"- 1 1/4". (with squash blossom 1 3/4"-2").
