This is a Stunning Vintage Rare True Classic Santo Domingo Turquoise Nugget Jacla Necklace. Circa 1930'3 -1940's. I bought this Jacla necklace in Scottsdale in the 80's. A Jacla is a traditional Pueblo Indian Adornment which contains 2 loops of Heshi or Turquoise beads tied to a Necklace as a pendant. Jacla is Navajo for "ear string".
29 inches without the Jacla and the total length is 40 inches with the Jacla. Jaclas are usually attributed to the Rio Grande Pueblo Indians, however they were traded with other tribes and have become associated with the Navajo as well. They are often seen in vintage photos being worn by members of all southwest tribes, both men and women. This Jacla necklace has large 1 inch all Natural Turquoise Nuggets with Tubular Turquoise beads in-between. It is a truly stunning and rare piece.
